Models of Implementation

How to use Siddur Sababa at your site

There are many models of using Siddur Sababa in your school.

Choose the one that's best for you and your students!

1) Siddur Sababa as a supplement to an adult weekday Siddur (like Sim Shalom)

Benefits: Your students learn how to navigate through an adult siddur while personalizing the Siddur Sababa. They learn to appreciate the "keva" of the service combined with the personalized "kavannah" of Siddur Sababa.

2) Siddur Sababa as a text/ workbook for iyun tfillah.

Suggestion A: Use Siddur Sababa for 25-40 minutes of iyun tfillah per week in the classroom. Students write and discuss during classroom time and daven during tfillah time. This is great for large classes or large minyanim.

Suggestion B: If davening with a small class or minyan, you may use and write in Siddur Sababa during tfillah time. You can have a brief iyun tfillah lesson within an abbreviated tfillah experience 1-3 days a week.

3) Siddur Sababa as your main siddur.

Benefits: Prepare your students to eventually use an adult siddur. Spend more time teaching the structure of the service and the value of inserting personal prayer into the service on a daily basis.

This model may be useful for students in 3rd-5th grade in schools who are not teaching the Torah Service.

4) A sample plan of use for grades 6-8:

On Mondays and Thursdays, daven a full Shaharit and Torah Service using Sim Shalom (or your weekday Siddur of choice).

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, daven out of Siddur Sababa.

On Fridays, daven weekday prayers from Sim Shalom or Siddur Sababa. You may even want to add someKabbalat Shabbat for a community building/ skill building experience.
